Erie Auto Insurance Special Features

Erie has several value-added features included in their auto policies.  These are additional protections that are included on top of the standard coverage at no additional cost. Erie doesn’t charge for rental reimbursement and transportation add-ons. This is included under your comprehensive coverage, and travel costs for trip interruptions are included under physical damage. The company will pay up to $20 per day for rental fees and other temporary transportation, and up to $75 per person for alternate travel costs on interrupted trips. Erie also includes pet injury coverage, under which Erie covers $500 of veterinary and medical care, or $1,000 for the loss of a pet in a covered event.

Erie Rate Lock® Option:  This is a unique option Erie offers its insureds. With this feature, Erie guarantees that you continue to pay the same premium, for the same auto insurance plan each year, even if you have a claim that is paid out, provided you don’t make a material change to your policy. Material changes include things like a vehicle change, new or additional drivers on the policy, moving to a new residence, and altering coverage or payment methods.

Accident Forgiveness: Erie will give you one free pass on both premium increases and accident surcharges in the event that you’re in an accident. To be eligible, policyholders have to be insured with Erie for at least 3 years and need to have been completely accident-free in that period of time.
